Gotta Move On - My Last Hub
74I stumbled upon hubpages a couple of years ago, when I was looking for a place to explore my opportunities at freelance writing as well as having a chance to share my passions for advocating for our Military Service Men and Women,... and also to connect with others who are affected by war and deployment.
Back in April of 2009 I wrote a hub called "From A Soldier's Mom" It was a personal account of what I had experienced, being a Soldier's Mom. I basically opened my heart and let all in to see. I was astonished on just how many other Military Mom's were here in this community, some retired,.. some well experienced in going through deployments, and MANY,.. who was about to take that title as thier child prepared to go to war. In short, we not only became friends, we became each others support & strength. Out of all my hubs all 30 somthing, this one was one of my most viewed. Others that was viewed often was "War - A Message To My Son" & "Coming Full Circle - My Soldier's Coming Home" It's was uplifting to see that others who don't even know me, sends so many prayers and blessings, and to see so many people concerned for the Service Men and Women and thier families, was,...well it means more than words can describe.
Because of this forum, I was able to pull off some geat projects, with the help and assistance from my hubber friends,.. In 2009 their was about 12 Military families that had not been "adopted out" for Christmas. A good 30 kids were going to wake up on Christmas morn with nothing, and a Proud Honorable Father miles away, unable to be their for his family because duty and Country comes first. It was down to the wire, like 10 days or something,.. Well those kids got more than what they asked for,.. ya know why ? because hubpages was utilized as a tool, It gave me the opportunity to report on this very important issue.
About a year ago, I was going to leave hubpages and move all my hubs to my own personal site, but so many people told me, that not only would it be better for me to stick around, that they also didn't want me to go,.. so I stayed,.. just like all my hubs. And I'm glad I did,.. I got the chance to make more friends and get more information out,... even though I often hubbed about my personal accounts.
Well Its a year later, and now it is time for me to go,.. This past week, hubpages had unpublished one of my hubs,... Here's a snip-pit of the email I received,..
Dear Army Infantry Mom,
Your Hub has been identified as a violation of our Terms of Use. If this is the first time you've gotten an email like this, don't worry! You'll have an opportunity to fix it.
Problem: Purely or primarily personal
A link to your Hub: hubpages.com/hub/From-A-Soldiers-Mom
Well folks, I can't fix it,.. LOL - Mainly because it don't need to be fixed,... It is purely from my heart,... Just as many of my other hubs were,.. because of this I have decided to shut down my ArmyInfantryMom hub account.
I don't hate hubpages for considering my hub/hubs to be in violation, its their site, their rules and that's all good,.. However my hub. "From A Soldier's Mom' was written back in April of 2009, It would of been more fair to me, if my mistake would of been pointed out, before 2 years had passed. Either way,.. I still love hubpages,.. because I have had the honor of meeting so many , terrific, troop loving people !!!! Plus as I mentioned, some really great things came to be because of this site.
I'm not gone forever though,.. I do have another hubpage account,.. I've had it for awhile,.. It's called Animal World http://hubpages.com/profile/Animal+World It's a great place for me to freelance write about animals, plus sometimes I just need a break from the Military stuff,.. LOL
Final Thought,....
Over all hubpages I still think is one of the best,... It just doesn't have the right fit anymore for this Army Mom. I am hoping to remain friends with everyone here,.. and Im hoping you all might drop in over at my new website,.. it launches May 1st,.. YEA !!!! Finally LOL And dont forget, I'm at Animal world too !!!!
Ugggg,.. I just realized,.. I broke the rule again,.. this is totally a personal hub,... I hope they can be forgiving this time,....at least for a little while,..
Update !!! May 2nd,2011
My Military Resource Directory is up and running,.. I'm so excited !!!! Here's the link if you want to check it out,... http://militaryresourcedirectory.com/ Pass it around too, if ya can :) Hooah !!!!

AIM - You will be missed, it has been an honor and a privilege to interact with you here. You are a patriot and may God Bless you and your son. I'll see ya per your requests.
I did not know it was against the rules to write a personal hub. In fact any good writing is personal, isn't it?
Thank you for your service. Good luck.
Many people are leaving, including myself. See ya around the Net :)
Are you on facebook? We can connect there. :)
As for why people are leaving - cause management got crazy LOL.
***HUGS*** :)
Michigan is where I was born. North Detroit Hospital. I would probably leave HubPages also but I have no other place to go. When things chnaged over on the ads, my adsense earnings went down the drain. It is not all HubPages fault. Google also did some changes that affected us.
So sorry to see you moving on. Keep raising awareness about the military and bless you for your efforts.
I saw your comment on the forum so wanted to look at your last hub. I dont understand. Ive written about loads of personal stuff. Im sorry you're going and would like to have seen you're other hubs. I have found the forum and comments sad as a newbie to HP.
They've taken things too far! 'Purely personal' is supposed to mean something that would be of no interest to anyone who doesn't personally know you, but your hubs were of interest to military moms everywhere. Like a support group. I wish you all the best in your new site and am really sorry it has come to this.
Sorry I know this is not a forum but I just wanted to agree with IzzyM. Maybe hp should have said we cant write "boring" hubs instead of "purely personal". Is it a human judging or the internet robots, because surely if a human read your hubs they would see what IzzyM said, "your hubs were of interest to military moms".
All the best for the future and to think your profile spells AIM so obviously you do that well!
I sent you a reply back. I appreciate it very much.
we will miss your hubs around here, I loved to read your articles. Seems a lot has changed around here, most of it is not for the good either. I moved most of my writing over to blogspot myself. where ever your writing takes you I wish you all the best.
God Bless
Just checking up here on HP to see you had left - sad day! But glad we have connected on Twitter. Diggin' the new site!
It's a shame so many veteran and experienced writers are leaving. I wish I could be as forgiving as you, but hubpages is quickly turning into a content toilet bowl and these new stupid rules are not making it any better.
All the best!
Seriously?! I wonder if I will get the same email another year or so from now regarding my hub about the Vietnam War's impact on my life? If so, I will have difficulty drawing a line between personal and factual history since there is so much reference to the war and news coverage.
This sadden's me, AIM. I read that article you wrote and I am one of the Army mom's who had a son in the war the same time you did.
I believe hubpages may be shooting them self in the foot with this generated (most likely) email... it was because of you and a few others (Hmrjmr1 and 38 caliber to name a couple of others) that I decided to stay and write.
I have learned some thing with your success story at hubpages.

Thank you for all the comfort you have given to other parents and spouses whose loved ones sacrifice every day. I don't know you, and have only been on HP for six months. But whatever these "secret" rules are about is making HP lose all their best writers. I haven't made money yet, but they are sure getting their percentage from all the writers who allow ads on their hard work. Maybe they should think about how they are alienating their source of income.
